Low-cut safety shoes: how to choose the class
The low-cut shoe is the most widely used safety footwear in industry, logistics, workshops and maintenance. The choice starts from the environment: dry or wet, nails and swarf, slippery surfaces, areas with electronic components.
S1P, S3 or S3S
- S1 and S1P: for dry indoor environments; S1P adds an anti-penetration midsole.
- S2: upper that resists water penetration, without midsole.
- S3: water-repellent upper, midsole and cleated outsole, for outdoors and construction sites.
- S3S and S1PS: non-metallic PS-type midsole under the 2022 version, more flexible.
Lightweight, comfortable safety shoes
To reduce weight, look for combinations of composite toe cap and non-metallic midsole, together with technical fabric uppers. The additional codes on the product page help complete the choice: SR for slip resistance, FO for fuel oil resistance, HRO for contact heat, ESD for electronics areas. Some models are EN ISO 20347 occupational footwear without a toe cap: the class is always shown in the name.
Styles for every department
As well as trainer styles there are smart Oxford and Brogue shoes for technical offices and site visits, slip-on models for people who take them off often, and women's models. If you need ankle protection or full waterproofing, see safety boots; for comfort, insoles. The full range is in work footwear.
Domande frequenti
What is the difference between S3 and S3S safety shoes?
Both are S3; S3S has a non-metallic PS-type anti-penetration midsole, while S3 with no extra letter has a metal midsole. A non-metallic midsole is generally more flexible.
How do I choose lightweight safety shoes?
Look for a composite toe cap, non-metallic midsole and technical fabric upper, checking that the class suits the environment: for wet outdoor conditions you still need S3.
Do smart safety shoes offer the same protection?
Yes, if they carry the same EN ISO 20345 class: the smart models in this category have a steel toe cap and S1P or S3 classes, suited to technical offices and site visits.
If my size is out of stock, when will it be available again?
The product page shows stock for each size in our Milan warehouse and in the European warehouse and, for items being restocked, the next arrival date.
