What is the difference between a universal and an oil-only spill kit?
An oil-only kit absorbs oils and hydrocarbons but repels water; a universal kit absorbs oils, coolants and non-aggressive water-based liquids. For acids and alkalis you need a chemical spill kit.
What does Type 5/6 coverall mean?
It is a coverall certified against airborne solid particles (Type 5, EN ISO 13982) and light splashes of liquid chemicals (Type 6, EN 13034). It is not suitable for jets or heavy spray, which require Type 4 or 3.
Does an EN 1073-2 coverall protect against radiation?
No, it only protects against contamination by radioactive particles, stopping them settling on skin and clothing. It does not shield against ionising radiation.
Where should a spill kit be kept?
Near the points where liquids are stored, decanted or used, in a visible and accessible position so you can respond immediately. The risk assessment helps define the number and capacity of kits.
Can disposable coveralls be reused?
No, disposable coveralls must be disposed of after use or if damaged or contaminated, following the disposal rules for the substance they came into contact with.
Are chemical coveralls sold in packs?
Yes, disposable coveralls are sold in packs of 50; for regular supplies you can request a quote from the website. Prices are excl. VAT.
