What is the difference between FFP2 and FFP3 masks?
FFP3 has the highest filtration efficiency and lowest inward leakage among EN 149 filtering facepieces, for more hazardous dust and fumes; FFP2 suits harmful dust and fumes of medium hazard. The class required comes from the risk assessment.
Do FFP2 masks protect against gases and vapours?
No, EN 149 filtering facepieces protect against particles, i.e. dust, fumes and mists. Gases and vapours require a half mask or full face mask with an EN 14387 gas filter.
What does ABEK mean on a gas filter?
It indicates a multi-gas filter: A for organic vapours, B for inorganic gases, E for acid gases such as sulphur dioxide, K for ammonia and its derivatives. The number that follows indicates the filter capacity.
Can an FFP2 mask be worn with a beard?
A beard along the sealing edge prevents the mask fitting the face and greatly reduces protection. For anyone who cannot shave, a solution that does not rely on a face seal should be assessed with the safety manager.
How often should half mask filters be changed?
Particle filters are replaced when breathing becomes difficult; gas filters when you can smell or taste the substance, or according to the schedule set by the risk assessment.
Are masks sold individually or in packs?
Disposable masks are sold in packs, for example of 10 or 20, as stated in the product name. For larger quantities you can request a quote from the website.
