Hi-vis sweatshirts: the warm layer that stays visible
The hi-vis sweatshirt is the go-to garment on chilly mornings and in outdoor warehouses: it keeps you warm without the bulk of a jacket and, worn as the outer layer, maintains certified visibility.
Hood, zip or crew neck
- Hooded with full zip: opens and closes in a moment, ideal for anyone getting in and out of vehicles.
- 1/4 zip or high collar: protects the neck from wind and goes over polo shirts and t-shirts.
- Crew neck and knitted: clean lines, also suited to supervisory roles.
- Fleece: light and warm, useful as a mid layer.
Classes and cool environments
Most sweatshirts are Class 3 to EN ISO 20471, thanks to the long sleeves that increase the visible area; others are Class 2 or 1. Some winter models are also certified to EN 14058, the standard for garments for cool environments, meaning low but not severe temperatures. Two-tone versions have dark panels in the areas that get dirtiest, and there are women's models with a dedicated fit.
Combinations and care
On colder days the sweatshirt goes under a hi-vis softshell jacket or a waterproof shell: in that case it is the outer garment that provides visibility. To complete the uniform, add hi-vis work trousers. Wash inside out, respecting the temperature and maximum number of washes shown on the label.
Domande frequenti
Is a hi-vis sweatshirt still certified if I wear it under a jacket?
Protection only works if the garment is visible. If you cover it with an ordinary jacket you lose visibility: the outer layer must also be hi-vis.
What does EN 14058 mean on a sweatshirt?
It certifies that the garment protects in cool environments, with low but not extreme temperatures. For severe cold you need garments certified for cold environments, such as winter jackets.
Are two-tone hi-vis sweatshirts certified like all-yellow ones?
Yes, if the product page states the EN ISO 20471 class. The dark panels are placed where the garment gets dirtiest, without falling below the minimum area for the class.
Can I check whether my size is in stock before ordering a sweatshirt?
Yes, every product page shows stock by size and colour in Milan and in the European warehouse, with the next arrival date if the garment is being restocked.
