Safety goggles
Goggles seal against the face and close off the eye area on all sides: they are the right choice when, as well as impact, there is dust, droplets or liquid splash. Many models can also be worn over prescription glasses: check the product page.
Standards and markings
- EN 166: the fields of use marked on the frame indicate the protection, for example 3 for liquid droplets and splashes, 4 for large dust particles, 5 for gas and fine dust. Impact level B is possible only for goggles and visors.
- EN ISO 16321: the newest standard for eye and face protectors, found on some models.
- EN 170: UV filter.
Vented or unvented?
Direct venting reduces fogging but lets liquids and fine dust through; indirect venting protects against droplets and splashes while keeping air flowing; unvented models suit fine dust and gas. For chemicals choose the dedicated chemical goggle, for gas welding and cutting the one with a dark lens. If the rest of the face also needs protecting, add a protective visor; for storage you will find cases among the eyewear accessories.
Domande frequenti
Which goggles for chemical splashes?
You need a model marked for liquids (field of use 3 to EN 166) without direct venting, such as the chemical goggle in this category.
Can goggles be worn over prescription glasses?
Many models are designed for this; check on the product page that the model is compatible with corrective glasses.
How do I stop goggles from fogging up?
Indirect venting and lenses with an anti-fog coating help. Cleaning the lenses correctly also reduces fogging.
