Type 1 or Type 2

Type 1 knee pads to EN 14404 are standalone and strap to the leg: they work with any trousers and come off when not needed. Type 2 are inserts that slide into the knee pad pockets of work trousers: they do not constrict the leg but only protect correctly with compatible garments that hold the insert in position.

Level 0 or Level 1

The level indicates puncture resistance. Level 0 suits flat, clean floors; Level 1 resists puncture from small objects, useful on site or where there are screws, gravel or debris on the ground. Gel versions spread the pressure and are preferred for prolonged use.

Kneeling mats and elbow pads
