What is the difference between a half mask with filters and a ready-to-use half mask?

With an EN 140 half mask the filters are replaced and the facepiece is reused; an EN 405 ready-to-use mask has integrated filters and is replaced as a whole when the filters are spent.

Silicone or TPR half mask?

Silicone is softer and suited to prolonged use; TPR is more economical. Protection depends mainly on the filter chosen and the seal on the face.

How do I check a half mask's seal?

Every time you put it on, carry out the seal check specified by the manufacturer, for example covering the filter inlets and breathing in: the mask should pull against the face. A fit test, by contrast, verifies the suitability of the model.
